Canyon Ferry Dam

Canyon Ferry Dam was built back in 1949 and it replaced the original dam that was built back in 1898. It’s pretty neat to look at. I decided to go to the lake the other day to snaps some shots and came across this scene. I had to illegally park to do it and because of that, was rushed in the process of taking the shot. Needless to say, I had to clean up a ton of watermarks for this shot. Oh well, it was worth it. I really like how this shot turned out. I love the reflection and the hint of a little ice on the lake on the left side of the image.

For this slideshow, I didn’t give the original, but instead I provided the same image processed a little differently. I would like to know which you like more. Also, as usual, I’ve provided some B&Ws for your viewing pleasure ๐Ÿ˜›

Mike Olbinski So many choices!

I’d like to know…which do YOU like the best?

Beautiful scene, I like one of the first two color versions the best because of that blue railing kind of standing out.

Chris @Mike Olbinski – Well, I like the color versions the best too, and my favorite is the ‘After (right)’ image. BUT, the vintage one is a close second.

Chris Nitz Great comp and processing! I’m really liking the reflection and how prominent that hill with trees is. Nicely done!

Scott Ackerman Great shot! Really cool reflection. I like the top image with the slider to the left but the B&W is a close second for me.

Jim Denham Color is good here – in particular because of the blue railing. For some reason, I like that! Great pic!

Jason Hines Great photo Chris. I love the reflection in the water. I have to go for the color because of the blue railing.

Chris DeAngelis I agree with Jim, love the blue railing! That reflection is money! Are the Usage, Twitter, and Facebook tabs new to the site?

Toad Hollow Photography LOVE the vintage version of this one, and for the slider image the one on the right is a tweak more compelling to me although I really liked them both. Great work here today, really enjoyed it my friend!!

Scott Frederick I like the first shot with the slider to the right. The brighter sky help separate that element from the rest of the image especially with the reflection! :)

Chris @Everyone – Thanks all! I really appreciate your comments and kind words.
@Chris DeAngelis – No, those have been there since I started the blog.

Kristi I think I like the color one the best, but I’d be interested in seeing a version that was b&w except for the blue railing. I love photos that leave only one color for impact.
