Pathway through the Ice: Update – #FFF: Featured Follow Friday – Mike Olbinski

I’m going to make today’s post a quick one. I’ll try to update my Featured Follow Friday later on tomorrow, but no garantees. I shot this using 5 exposures that were taken with my new 10-stop ND filter. I really enjoy using the ND filter, but man do you have to wait a long time for the shot to finish. One of the most exciting things about photography is the randomness… at least to me anyway. I was driving home and I spotted this bridge and I stopped. That’s what I love. The randomness of it all. Plus, I now know that this will be a killer place to shoot in the warmer times of the year. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the shot and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Note: As is going to be the case in all future posts, Iโ€™ve included the before image as well. Please use the slider to change from before to after and let me know if you run into any problems.

#FFF – Featured Follow Friday – Mike Olbinski
Sorry about the late feature, but it was late last night and I figured I could get away with writing this up during my lunch hour. I’m skipping my favorite meal for you, Mike. I hope you appreciate it! ๐Ÿ˜›

Mike chases storms and I must say, I’m very impressed with what I’ve seen. He’s compiled around 75 different images in a book and you can pick one up here for $44.95. Hurry though, last I saw that deal was supposed to end soon!

Mike Olbinski is an awesome overall photographer based out of Phoenix, Arizona. I like to break photographers into 3 different categories: Organic (People), Non-organic(Landscapes, Architecture, etc.), and Overall. Most of the photographers I follow fall into the Organic or Non-organic. That isn’t to say they don’t ever find themselves in another category, but their comfort zone is one or the other. Mike is one of the rare few who likes to shoot both. He does weddings, portraits, events, urbex, landscapes, etc. The list goes on and on. I love following Mike’s work because, when I grow up, that’s the kind of photographer I want to be. ๐Ÿ˜› He’s a constant and easy source of inspiration. One day he will post an HDR shot, the next day a landscape, and the next day a family session. His blog is a one-stop destination for inspiration.

As I said earlier, Mike is a great photographer. I love all his work, but if I had to pick my favorite work, it would be his landscapes. He has a way of capturing so much detail in his skies that is just blows me away. They are so dramatic and I absolutely love them! His HDR work is a very close second though!

I should mention that he’s just a great guy. He’s very friendly and a lot of fun to talk to… that is when his responses are longer than 1 or 2 words! ๐Ÿ˜‰

At this point, I’m sure Mike’s head is probably the size of a large watermelon, so I’m going to stop and show you a few of my favorite pics of his. Actually, some of my favorite pics are in his gallery, but I can’t link to those individually, so make sure you go there to check them out!

Mike Olbinski Hahahah, kidding!

So when do I do one-word answers? Probably IM huh? I suck sometimes…doing too many things at once.

This is awesome man, really appreciate this, you’ve flattered me beyond words and I’m completely humbled.

Really…thank you.
