Immaculate Conception Church in Butte Montana Update: Best image so far this year? Please let me know

After I was done photographing the mines in Butte, MT, I took a stroll down memory lane. You see, I used to go to college in Butte, MT at Montana Tech. Although I’ve never been in this church (I went to a different church), I’ve walked, jogged, and drove by it many times. It really is a beautiful church. It’s right on top of the hill, overlooking the entire city. I was a little bummed that it was closed though… especially on a Sunday. I would have loved to get a few interior shots as well. Oh well, I will get some a different time. I tried several angles for this shot, but I think this was the best one. Another decisiion that I struggled with was whether or not to use lens correction on the image. Without it, you can see much more of the sky, which is beautiful. In the end, I decided to use Adobe Photoshop’s Len Correction filter. I’m happy with the results. I especially like how the wet ground sort of leads your eye to the church. What do you guys/gals think?

Note: As is going to be the case in all future posts, I’ve included the before image as well. Please use the slider to change from before to after and let me know if you run into any problems.

Update: So, I have been requested by my wife’s employer to donate an image to a silent auction. I have an idea of which might be the lucky one to get donated, but I wanted to get your opinion. If you don’t mind, could you take a look through my images so far this year and let me know which are your favorites? I would really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Madlyne Clare Luedke I don,t believe this is a picture of St.Patrick church.in Butte but a beautiful one of the church called the Immaculate Conception Catholic up on the hill. It can been seen almost all over. I have attended it many times in my younger life.

I attended St.Pat,s school and went to daily Mass at the church which was jusr down the block from school.
It was a very plain humble building.

Chris I stand corrected. I read the plaque wrong. The plaque states that this church was created because of the overflow from St. Patrick’s Church. Thank you so much for the correction! I appreciate it and have updated the post.
